The Best Ways To Organize Office Funiture and Lighting

Author: Brian Johansson

One of the most overlooked factors in designing an office space today is the lighting. I have personally walked into many offices that have been carefully designed and had a lot of money put into them only to be shown in ugly glaring neon light from directly above. Neon lighting has the ability to turn a well designed office into a boring space with the flip of a switch. Also neon lighting has been shown to lower worker productivity and company moral. There are several alternatives to neon lighting that can offer a more comfortable and efficient work environment. Taking the time to explore these options will endear you to your employees and make your day at the office a little more comfortable.

The most comfortable lighting setup for most people is natural daylight. It provides a warmer more appealing color than the cold and harsh tones of neon. If you have moved into an office already fitted with neon lights above the central work area and in the private offices, you are still able to explore other options. Most neon fixtures come in a standard size and make it easy to order replacement tubes. When you place your next order talk to your vendor about the possibility of ordering a daylight balanced tube. Most retailer's will be able to provide you with a sample tube for your review. Daylight balanced tubes operate the exact same way that ordinary neon tubes do but they burn at a different light spectrum. They are tinted and burn at the right tempoture to simulate natural sunlight. When you look at the tube it will have a bluish tint to it which helps to moderate the harsh neon light into natural daylight.

Most people overlook this part of office design and that is a mistake. With the right lighting your workers will feel more comfortable in their office environment and will be more productive. Many workers will be less inclined towards irritability and more apt to engage in their daily functions happily.
